With apologies to Andy Williams, this is the most wonderful time of the year!
The NBA starts back up again, tonight! The ball hasn’t been put in play yet and there is already drama. I’m looking at you Philadelphia and Brooklyn. There are teams with new players in Los Angeles and Miami and a defending champion ready to defend their crown in Milwaukee. Best of all, this is a “regular” regular season. Unlike the last two there will be no bubble, no sparse crowds (well at least not due to Health and Safety issues) and a full 82 games played for each team.
In every meaningful way, the NBA is back!
Before we get to our predictions for this season I wanted to address something that has come up from time to time. Why don’t you cover preseason games?
Our Truth About Preseason Games
The truth however is that preseason games are glorified practices. That’s not to say we don’t watch the games, we do. But, the thought of reporting on how good or bad (insert player of your choice here) looked in these games is kinda silly. Summer League is cool because you get a first look at players your team drafted. Preseason games have their fair share of rookies playing, but there is more time for veterans trying to find their way back into the league. The games are fun to watch, but they don’t tell us anything. So, what’s the point in reporting on them?
