The Nuggets now lead the series 3-1 [Nuggets won 4-0] and can advance to the NBA Finals with a win in Game 5 on Friday night in Los Angeles [There will be no Game 5].
The Nuggets were led by Nikola Jokic, who had 37 points, 15 rebounds, and 7 assists [Jokic finished with 30 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists]. Aaron Gordon added 25 points and 12 rebounds [Gordon chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds], and Monte Morris had 22 points off the bench [This, much to the dismay of Monte Morris, did not happen]. The Lakers were led by LeBron James, who had 40 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists [James had 40 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists]. Anthony Davis added 28 points and 12 rebounds, but he fouled out with 1:44 remaining in the game [Davis was OK in game he needed to be better than just OK. He finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds and 3 blocks in 40 minutes of play. He did not foul out].
The Nuggets shot 48.8% [48.2%] from the field, including 40.9% [36.4%] from three-point range. The Lakers shot 46.4% [46.5%] from the field and 32.3% [40%] from three-point range. The Nuggets also outrebounded the Lakers 47-45 [Nuggets won the rebound battle 40-38. They also had more assists, 25-20, more blocks 9-4 and one more made FG, 41-40].
The Nuggets led by as many as 14 points in the first half, but the Lakers rallied to take a 95-93 lead in the fourth quarter. However, the Nuggets responded with a 10-0 run to take the lead for good. [Nuggets never led in the first half. It was Lakers all the way in the first 24 minutes with them leading by as much as 15 points! The tide turned half way into the 3rd quarter when the Nuggets took the lead and never gave it back. The longest run for either team was 8-0]
The Nuggets are now one win away from the NBA Finals. They will look to close out the series on Friday night in Los Angeles. [Sigh, Bard had been doing so well. This series if over. Congratulations to the Denver Nuggets for making it to their first NBA Finals!]
