Bam Adebayo and A’ja Wilson are in a relationship. There was no direct statement by either players PR team. Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava said it during a celebration ceremony. The Mayor acted like a giddy sports fan and gossip girl when she deduced why A’ja was at the ceremony. Like every family has an elder that broadcasts family news, she is the one in South Florida (she is forgiven.) Now, what?
Levine-Cava’s admission may have been on purpose
Levine-Cava was announcing all the South Florida Olympians in attendance at a Commission meeting when on her paper, she almost overlooked that A’ja Wilson (another Olympian, not from South Florida) was also at the meeting. Levine-Cava awkwardly pronounced her name and pivoted. Then slyly commented, “Guess that has something to do with Bam and the Heat, huh?”
Look at this article here from USA Today. A’ja had her two teammates, Sydney Colson and Chelsea Gray were ribbing her. A’ja responded with a “What?!” video clip from Jerry Springer. The Aces are still in there season and are in 2nd place in the Western Conference (#4 seed overall.) The Heat haven’t begun training camp. But, there will be constant questions about the relationship from the press.
The two athletes have not made their relationship public or official, yet.

Bam-Aja relationship vs. performance

The Mayor’s excuse for the gaffe is, “Hey, I’m the Mayor, I’m not a sports fan, oops.” Look at this article here from Glamour.com on top athletes in relationships. The key point: All the athletes listed are Olympic athletes, not professional athletes like Adebayo and Wilson. A’ja is on track to the break the WNBA league scoring record as per this article here on CBS Sports. She is also in consideration for the league MVP award. Her main competition, Caitlin Clark is featured on this article here on our site.
Adebayo isn’t a straight introverted player like Kawhi Leonard or a sullen player like Kevin Durant. In this article here on Bleacher Report, he openly dissents against not winning the DPOY. It appears he wants more media attention. Therefore, it will be interesting to observe how the relationship progresses and affects their in-game performance.
