Star of the Game

In the tight race for sixth place in the western conference, the Timberwolves pulled off a big win against Denver. While Nikola Jokic had 38 points, 19 points and 8 assists, Karl-Anthony Towns led the Wolves with 32 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks. Thanks to the help of the rest of the Big Three, Minnesota managed to pull off a big win. D’Angelo Russell had 24 points and 4 assists, while Anthony Edwards had 18 points and 8 rebounds. While none of the big three was heating up at the same time, the balanced play allowed them to be unstoppable against a tough opponent.

Biggest Concern

Though he came alive in the 4th quarter, Anthony Edwards really struggled through the first three. While he finished with 18 points, he shot 1/10 in the first 36 minutes. Edwards has been struggling as he overcomes a knee injury, but the young shooting guard will have to bring more consistency if the Timberwolves hope to make some noise in the playoffs, or in the future.

Number of the Night

0. After going through a small slump the last five games, D’Angelo Russell came out hot against Denver. With 24 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists, Russell is reviving the faith in what he can bring to this team. Though his shooting eventually went cold, if he can make contributions like this, there is a good chance the Timberwolves will be a tough match-up in the post season.

Next Game

The Timberwolves will play the Rockets on Sunday at 5:00 CST.
