Shooting Forward DeMar DeRozan continues to perform and show up for the Bulls as they rediscover the taste of victory after defeating the Timberwolves. DeRozan racked up an impressive 27 points, 2 rebounds, 8 assists. DeRozan gave an incredible push which propelled the Chicago Bulls (36-40) to once again rediscover the taste of victory and defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves (51-23) 109-101 away from home at Target Center. The Chicago Bulls came into this game after a tough loss against the Brooklyn Nets, where they lost away from home 125-108 at Barclays Center. While the Timberwolves came into this game with pretty good form with two wins on the spin, coming into this game in great form with four consecutive games undefeated, heading to this match after beating the Denver Nuggets 111-98.
The last time these teams faced each other was earlier this season on Tuesday, February 6th, when the Bulls beat the Timberwolves in overtime at home 129-123, Timberwolves Shooting Guard Anthony Edwards was the best man on the court with an amazing performance comprised of 38 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists. The Chicago Bulls hoped for a similar result this time around, and did once again discover the taste of victory.
First half was tight, Bulls were up by ten at Halftime
The first half was a hard-fought one for the Bulls, but they played a good game, as they finished up by ten points at the halftime mark. They ended the first quarter the best way as they were up by 11 points, 33-22. Shooting Guard Alex Caruso was the best man on the court that quarter for the Bulls with 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assists while Center Rudy Gobert was the main man for the Timberwolves with 5 points and 2 rebounds.
The second quarter then seemed to be a tighter affair as they finished the second quarter with a losing result of 32-31, but at the half the combined score favored the Bulls, leading by ten 64-54. For the Bulls, it was DeRozan providing the difference as he put in 15 points, 1 rebounds, and 4 assists, but for the Timberwolves it was Point Guard Mike Conley Jr who finished with 13 points and 3 assists.
Timberwolves kept roaring at the door, but Bulls took care of business and won
The third quarter proved to be a real test for the Bulls as they fought hard to defend against the Timberwolves’ offense kept knocking at the door looking to turn the score and find a comeback, the Bulls found themselves at the end of the third quarter once again behind 25-20, but the overall score favored the Bull as they led by five in the overall score of 84-79. Center Nikola Vucevic lead the way providing 4 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists in the quarter, while for the Timberwolves Edwards showed up as he did last time these teams met and played a great quarter of 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist,
In the fourth quarter, the Timberwolves continued knocking on the door, but the Bulls were able to hang on and secure the win. The fourth quarter ended in the Bulls favor 25-22, as the final score ended with the Bulls tasting victory, 109-101. DeRozan was a problem for Timberwolves defense as he finished the quarter and game with 27 points, 2 rebounds, 8 assists. While for the Timberwolves fought as hard as they could, but couldn’t get the result with Edwards being the only spark in a sad day as he put in 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Star of the Game
Shooting Forward DeMar DeRozan was once agan the “Star of the Game” as he racked up an impressive 27 points, 2 rebounds, 8 assists. The USC Trojan product and 2009 NBA Draft, ninth overall pick was once again the best player on the court, and after consistent performances not mathcing the team’s result’s, his contributions finally weren’t in vain as the Bulls once again discovered the taste of victory after defeating the Timberwolves. DeRozan and company are happy to put on a good representation of the Bulls side and give a smile of victory to the city of Chicago.
