Cavaliers Week #4 Wrap-up

They did it! They finally did it! It might have taken 12 games, but the Cavaliers won 2 in a row! Sarcasm aside, the Wine & Gold looked good getting back to back wins after beating the Pistons 108-100. Especially since they are coming onto their most difficult week yet.

Cavaliers put away Pesky Pistons

With the Cavaliers missing leading scorer Donovan Mitchell, the boys got it done putting down a young Detroit squad. The Pistons made it close with 6 3-pointers in the 3rd Quarter making the score 80-73 going into the 4th. Yet, with Darius Garland leading the way with 28 points, it never felt like the Cavs were going to lose. The off-season addition Max Strus lived up to his deal as he filled up the stat sheet with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and another poster dunk against an unsuspecting foe.

Overall, it was a successful week going 2-1 and getting back to .500. The Cavaliers have only beat one team that has a winning record (NY Knicks, GSW had a winning record but fell back to earth). They have beat up on teams with losing records, but they are 1-6 against above .500 teams. That does not bode well for the upcoming week.

Huge Tests this Week

This week, the Cavaliers play 4 massive games. All of this week’s opponents have winning records (oh and 3 out of 4 teams were in the Conference Finals last year). In fact, these next four teams are legit title contenders AND they also have dominant big men leading their squads. The Mobley/ Allen combo have feasted on lesser talented back-courts this season. So how they match up against Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Bam Adebayo and Anthony Davis might determine how the week goes for the Wine & Gold.
