I don’t know what the Pacers did to the Celtics but whatever it was

They need to apologize.

After a dominant road win against the Washington Wizards Monday night, the Boston Celtics came into last nights game ready to face the Indiana Pacers.

The Pacers, coming in at 2-1, have demonstrated an intoxicating and fast paced offense in their first three games. Led of course by the head of the snake Tyrese Haliburton, their fun and fast style along with the additions of Bruce Brown and Obi Toppin, have them looking towards their first playoff berth since the bubble. But without Haliburton tonight, things got out of hand.

The Celtics had their second straight 75 point first half en route to a more than convincing 155-104 rout of the Pacers.

The Celtics got out to a hot start shooting 16/21 from the field and 8/10 from three in the first quarter and never looked back. Jayson Tatum continued to show his improved post-game and poise in an impressive 30-point 12 rebound outing. He had plenty of help tonight as five of his teammates had 15+ points and seven in double figures overall. Even though they took care of the Wizards pretty easily in their last matchup, concerns drizzled the rather effortless win in regard to the bench unit.

Celtics Bench Unit

The Celtics starters got the lead up to 37 before coach Joe Mazzulla cleared the bench and let an all reserve unit get some run. Prominent bench guys like Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser led a rather embarrassing showing in the 4th quarter as the Wizards cut the final lead to only 19. And I’m going to assume that unit heard the noise.

The bench combined for a season high 63 points and put up 46 points in the 4th quarter. With the Celtics presumed to have the best top six players in the NBA, the depth will continue to be a question until proven otherwise. Their performance tonight was a step in the right direction.
