After picking up a win early in the week, the 76ers are now on a three-game losing skid with just five weeks remaining in the regular season. In an attempt to regain their footing, Philadelphia will face crucial Eastern opponents as they continue their playoff hunt. They currently sit at seventh atop the other play-in teams with a record of 35-28. While dropping out of the playoff picture is far-fetched for the 76ers, the pace they currently hold will keep them fighting for a low seed in the play-in tournament.
76ers Drop Three Straight
The 76ers started their week on a high note after beating the Dallas Mavericks 120-116 on national television. Tobias Harris, Tyrese Maxey, and Kelly Oubre Jr. all stepped up, scoring 20 plus each. On Tuesday, the squad fell to the Brooklyn Nets 112-107, and Oubre dropped 30 points in the loss. This was followed by a 115-109 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies and Jaren Jackson Jr.’s 30 points. The Sixers lost their third straight to the New Orleans Pelicans 103-95 at home. Despite all of the low-scoring outputs against beatable opponents, Oubre impressed, averaging 24 points over the span of four games.
Three-Straight Road Games Against Eastern Foes
The 76ers will look to snap their three game losing streak this week, but it will have to come against some other Eastern playoff contenders. On Sunday and Tuesday night, the Sixers will play on the road against the New York Knicks. The Knicks are currently just two games up on Philadelphia as the four seed in the East. Thursday night, the 76ers travel to Milwaukee to face the three-seeded Bucks. Finally, Philadelphia hosts the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night. These games, especially against New York, will have massive playoff seeding implications. This is especially crucial for the 76ers to snap their losing skid if they want to fight their way out of the play-in tournament.
