For the second time this season, Detroit bests Boston again. After a quite impressive win over the Raptors yesterday, the Celtics failed to build off of that momentum and fell to the Pistons 108-102. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum played great. They combined for 60 of Boston’s 102 points. Overall though, Boston played horrible. They shot 29% from 3 and they missed 8 free throws and shot 73% from the free throw line. Detroit had 5 players score in double figures and even though their top player Jerami Grant shot 5-16 and scored only 15 points, they still won. Why? Saddiq Bey and Delon Wright played amazing and combined for 52 points.

STAR OF THE GAME

Entering today, Saddiq Bey was averaging 7.9 points per game and his career high for a game was 20. Tonight, he played the best game of his career by far. He scored 30 points on 10-12 shooting and a perfect 7-7 from three. He hit a clutch three with 38.7 seconds left to put the Pistons up by 6 and basically put the game away. Not only did he score well, he got a double double as he also registered 10 rebounds. For the rookie, his performance was definitely the best out of everyone who saw the court tonight.

BIGGEST CONCERN

The Celtics beat the Raptors yesterday and looked like a very good team. Tonight, they looked like a team still seeking their true identity. The biggest problem with the 2021 Celtics that continues to persist is their lack of consistency. Last week, Boston made a great comeback against the Clippers and beat one of the best teams in the entire NBA. The very next game, they were horrible on offense and lost to Phoenix. Yes, we still have yet to see one game this season with the entire Celtics roster healthy. That matters. But you cannot be losing to the Pistons at home when they entered today 1-11 on the road. After registering 30 assists yesterday, Boston only had 15 today. In order to be a great team, the Celtics need to start being consistent.

SURPRISE CONTRIBUTION

Delon Wright came into this game only averaging 9.9 points per game and tonight he was just amazing for the Pistons. He finished with a stat line of 22 points on 7-9 shooting, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists. He kept on making the right reads and plays down the stretch and his play was one of the main reasons why this Pistons team won. With Derrick Rose being traded, the playing time and role have increased for Wright and tonight he made the best out of it.
