Giannis Antetekumpo and his agent tease leaving Milwaukee again. According to a tweet from ESPN insider, Shams Charania, they are discussing whether to stay or go with Milwaukee front office staff. Almost every sports site is now posting articles about possible trade destinations.
The tweet from Charania says that the discussions have begun and a decision may come within the next few months (before the trade deadline.) The Heat are doing great offensively right now, but need another big man to rim protect with constant attacks to the rim by opposing teams that play “at pace.”
Miami as a trade destination
As per Ricky O’Donnell on SBNation.com, the Miami trade package is the following:
Milwaukee receives — Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez, Jr., Kel’el Ware, Davion Mitchell and a 2030 and 2032 first round pick.
This would give the Heat a formidable group of starters but would get rid of the first true point guard the Heat have had since “The General,” Sherman Douglas. The Heat would still have to pick up another big man as Vlad Goldin would fill in Ware’s spot. Nikola Jovic would get a free pass and stay out on the perimeter (where he wants to be.)

Tyler Herro is from the Wisconsin area, and Milwaukee would get young, tested players like Jaime Jaquez, Ware and Mitchell. Milwaukee would quickly become playoff-relevant. Ware would join a veteran power rotation with Myles Turner, Kyle Kuzma and Bobby Portis. Mitchell would jump from Miami to a “shooter’s paradise” in Milwaukee with Gary Trent, Cole Anthony and Gary Harris.
Giannis said (in the summer) “I want to be a Knick”

As per a Blue Sky post from Brian Windhorst, Giannis will be the one to initiate where he wants to go (not Milwaukee.) As per the trade package scenario, the Bucks would benefit from the Lakers trade scenario better. They would end up taking Karl Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby, so they would have two three-point shooting big men that aren’t coachable.
The Lakers trade scenario had Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Austin Reaves and Maxi Kleber plus a draft pick in exchange for Giannis. Obviously, the Heat package would be the most advantageous from a fan’s perspective. Coach Spoelstra could truly play “positionless” and it would be fun to watch him develop matchup problems as Bam, Andrew Wiggins and Giannis could play any position from 1 to 5.
