Harden is out until after All-Star break
James Harden‘s addition to the Philadelphia 76ers created much anticipation in the fanbase for his Sixers debut. Unfortunately Philly fans will have to wait a little while longer to see their new star take the court. Harden has been battling Hamstring issues on and off for two seasons now. His left hamstring is currently flaring up, an MRI in Brooklyn revealed he has excess inflammation.
James is sitting out the All-Star game and the Sixers plan to take it game by game with him after the break. It may take until March for Harden to suit up with his new team. Philadelphia is taking a cautious approach with Harden. This is a wise move considering how well the team is playing right now, there is no need to rush him back. It is more important that he get to full strength and he is healthy for the playoffs. It should only take Harden 8-12 games to fit in with Philadelphia, considering how quickly he meshed with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant in Brooklyn (only 16 total games together).
Sixers fans will just have to stay patient like they have been all season long…don’t forget to TRUST THE PROCESS.
Harden Hamstring Survival Tips
Below are a few budget friendly tips for getting over hamstring injuries in case your reading James.
- Icy Hot – Nothing gets those hamstrings working like a minty fire beneath your thighs. I’m more of a Tiger Balm guy, but to each his own. Just look for Shaquille O’Neal‘s face on the box in the CVS medical section. Price: $12.37
- Bag of Ice – I know a most NBA facilities have their own Cryo-Chambers and cold tubs, but nothing beats a classic bag of ice for some localized cooling to shutdown some inflammation. Look for a silver box outside of any gas station with a polar bear on it. Price: $2.50 for 10 lbs.
- Dynamic Stretching – There are all types of ways to stretch that hammy choose what works for you. Whether it be Yoga, Pilates, Jazzercize or just plain old sitting on the floor and reaching for your foot (a great way to showcase the new Harden Vol. 6 Adidas) just make sure you keep it moving. Check the movie section at a local Goodwill there will probably be a couple of old Pilates and Jazzercize tapes of VHS. Price: $1
