The overtime game between the Heat and the Nets was competitive. The Nets have a below .500 record but have always played the Heat tough. The Heat were on a second night of a back-to-back and had to “gut it out” to win the game. Bam Adebayo represented Heat Culture by contributing in other ways instead of scoring. Tyler Herro had a “grown man’s game” by playing good and offense and defense. Coach Spolestra called him out in the post-game press conference saying it wasn’t “just schemes,” that Herro played good 1-on-1 defense.

Overtime Recap #3 — Heat are playing good defense.

Jimmy Butler said after a playoff game a few years back, “We play better when we’re not worried about making shots, and just defending.” The Heat have realized that and over the last three games have held their opponents under 100 points. The common cliche is “you beat the team’s you are supposed to beat.” The opponents have been Orlando, Charlotte and Brooklyn who have a combined record under .500. But it looks like the Heat are worrying about defending instead of making shots. Check out this article here on Deadspin where the Heat were down by 14 at the half. Then, they got back in the lead late in the 3rd scoring 37 points.

Overtime Recap #2 — Bam represented Heat Culture tonight.

Adebayo didn’t have a usual offensive night tonight. Both teams had problems shooting effectively. Check this article here from the New York Daily News that highlights the bad shooting. Bam scored 11 points, but he found other ways to help his team win. He brought down 20 rebounds and had four assists. He played hard throughout and contributed in getting the ball back to his teammates who were scoring. Tyler Herro had 29 points and Jimmy Butler had 31 points. They wouldn’t have done that if Bam wasn’t getting rebounds.

Even Bally’s Sports studio host Will Manso said in the post game, “It looked at first that they were tired.” Any fan could’ve understood if the Heat lost the game because it was a second night of a back to back. But, the Heat team kept playing and stayed close to the Nets. Then they pulled ahead at the right time and won the game. Mikael Bridges had 26 points and always seems to play his best against Miami. Check out this article here on our site on the All-Time Brooklyn Nets team. The Nets have always played Miami tough so tonight was a moral victory also. I wouldn’t be surprised if Miami started a win streak.
