The Heat win a “pitfall game” vs. the Utah Jazz, 126-120. They had just lost to the Denver Nuggets in a nationally televised game on Thursday. But, they went 3-1 on the road trip winning morale boosting games. Tonight, was the start of a double pitfall game as the Heat also will play below .500 Detroit on Tuesday. To look forward to the road trip against Dallas and Oklahoma City would be dangerous. Miami can’t afford to lose games as very little separates them from New York in the #4 seed.
Heat vs. Utah Point #2
The Jazz and Heat fought it out in the first half to a 62-58 score. John Collins and Collin Sexton had three assists a piece and were the leading scorers for the Jazz. The Jazz also had 19 second chance points in the first half. The big men muscled the Heat down low. Check out this article here from Inside the Jazz page on SI.com on Taylor Hendricks and Keyonte George. Taylor Hendricks had three offensive rebounds and former Heat player Omer Yurtseven had two.
The Heat went on a 21-11 run to take a 79-78 lead and tied the score at 90 in the fourth. The Heat pulled ahead late in fourth quarter, 117-109 and then went up 121-113 to pull away. Jimmy Butler had a game high 37 points and Bam Adebayo had 23 points. Terry Rozier had eight assists and the Heat had 33 assists in the game on 46 total made field goals. The Heaters scored 120 points which gives them 110 points per game in the second half.
Heat vs. Utah Point #1
Remember in my article here on our site about their second half outlook. The Utah game tonight and the Pistons game on Monday are “pitfall games.” They beat Utah and now have to avoid the double pitfall. We’re talking Tuesday night in Miami, late arriving crowd, weekday against the lowly Pistons–MAJOR PITFALL GAME.
