I didn’t see the Heat win the Heat win the Summer League title. I turned it off towards the end of the third quarter with the Heat trailing by 8 to the Grizzlies. My Mom and I discovered “Game of Thrones” and we’re on Season 2. I thought, “The rookies have made it to the title game,” “It doesn’t matter if they win because they have tasted competition at the pro level.” The Grizzlies just kept answering every push the Heat had and kept the lead at arm’s distance.
Then I looked at my phone this morning.
Both Summer League finalists played well
The Grizzlies began to pull forward in the second quarter. They went up by 7 and were slicing through the Heat defense. Scottie Pippen Jr. was playing freely. Jake Laravia was shooting lights out. Look at this article here from Bleacher report on their Hot Takes from the game. The Heat players just “kept grinding,” always cutting the lead but never overtaking. Laravia would have a big shot, then Pippen would get to the foul line. Look at this article here on the Commercial Appeal site on the Grizzly players.
Does the Summer League title mean anything?
The Heat players get a ring and a trophy. Its like the Emirates NBA Cup tournament. It is competition at the pro level for new players. So, Hell yea it means something. Look at this article here from the sunsentinel on player performances and grades, plus the possibility they could play this season. All of these players will catch on with the Grizzlies or the Heat, or other teams.
Scottie Pippen Jr. dominated the game and had several chances to win the game late. He has “Big shoes to fill,” as the son of Scottie Pippen and Larsa Pippen. Look at this article here from Sportskeeda on his performance in the game and his mother at the game.
