Johnny Davis recalled from G League

After a 2 game stint in the G league, Johnny Davis will rejoin the Washington Wizards on Monday in Charlotte. After playing limited minutes in Friday’s loss to the Brooklyn Nets, Davis was assigned to the Capital City Go-Go.  In his G league debut Davis scored 13 points, but shot 3 for 13 from the field. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing in my opinion.

He has barely played this season and it’s going to take a little bit of time to find your footing. Which is what happened in Davis’ second game with the Capital City Go-Go. On Sunday, Davis scored 17 points on 6 for 7 shooting from the field and 3 for 3 shooting from the three point line. Davis also had 3 blocks.

Maybe this was what Davis needed

It’s easy to say “oh he did this in the G League”. But the G League is still professional basketball. There are high quality players who play in the G League. Having a great performance against high quality competition could be the confidence booster Davis needs moving forward.

Sometimes all it takes is for one great performance for your confidence to start returning.

But be patient

The Washington Wizards are currently 4-6 on the season. They are coming off a 42 point loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, and a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday. Their offense is currently ranked 24th in offensive rating according to basketball reference. The team’s three point shooting has also been poor as of late.

With that being said, the Wizards are most likely not going to give Davis significant minutes in the immediate future. Wes Unseld Jr is going to rely on his usual lineups to turn the team’s offense around. Plus with Corey Kispert back in the rotation, there will be less minutes for Davis. For now anyways.
