Star of the Game
In an all out offensive blowout, Karl-Anthony Towns deserves all the credit for this victory. Not only did he set a team record by scoring 60 points (going 19/31 from the field and 7/11 from deep) he also added 17 rebounds to that total. This also marks another franchise record for the most points in a single game. D’Angelo Russell and Patrick Beverley added 19 and 20 points to the total, hitting three 3-pointers each.
Biggest Concern
While this was an amazing victory, there were several things to be concerned about. Both Anthony Edwards and Malik Beasley were nonexistent on the floor tonight. Edwards scored five points and Beasley had none. Plus, even though the Timberwolves won, they only one by 10 points, which doesn’t say much for the defense. The biggest concern though is Jaden McDaniels leaving the game in the last minute with an ankle injury. At this time, it is unclear how severe that injury is, and how long the young forward will be out.
Number of the Night
0. Aside from Karl-Anthony Town’s domination, the credit has to be shared with D’Angelo Russell. This pairing is proving to be one of the best in the NBA, and when they both are hitting their shots they are close to unstoppable. Russell had 19 points tonight (shooting 8/12) with six assists, three steals and only one turnover. Together, they are playing some of the best basketball of their careers, and are making the Timberwolves fun to watch again.
Next Game
The Timberwolves will play the Lakers on Wednesday at 7:00 CST.
