Kyle Lowry was officially traded and I would like to recap his career with the Heat. He is “QB1” as Miami Heat voice Eric Reid refers to him. He is a natural point guard and the team’s offense ran better when he was at the control. Kyle Lowry was crafty. During the Heat’s playoff runs, he would find moments to generate a foul without contact, i.e. flopping. But, he would do it better than any other player and not be obvious. Here is a recap of his greatest moments with the Heat.

Lowry Heat recap #3: Lowry was signed for the playoffs

Check out this article here from the Sporting News on Kyle Lowry vs. the Celtics in last year’s Eastern Conference Finals. Lowry never became the 20 point per game scorer the Heat needed, but he added a veteran, playoff tested presence to the team. He was injured for the first two games of the 2022 ECF and probably would’ve gotten the Heat over the top if healthy. Then, he went to the bench at the start of last season’s playoffs and increased bench output. His knowledge and expert play was integral for the Heat when Jimmy Butler was on the bench.

Lowry Heat recap #2: Lowry was a “glue guy”

Lowry ended up not being the same player that he was in Toronto. But, Lowry is a Heat Culture guy with how he’d contribute in other ways. Check out this article here from the site Andscape.com where Lowry had a huge Game 1 against the Knicks. Jimmy Butler said (of Lowry), “he’s the engine that helps us go.” Lowry brought to the Heat what they lost with PJ Tucker leaving the team–a player that could lead, follow and do dirty work to help the team win.

Lowry Heat recap #1: Lowry was good friends with Butler

Check out this article here from ESPN.com in June 2023, when Butler was asked for the article what makes the Heat a different type of #8 seed.

“We got Kyle Lowry,” Butler said, as a smile crossed his face.
Lowry, sitting next to a shirtless Butler at the podium, had his response ready.
“Shut the f— [up],” Lowry said, breaking into a smile.

These two won’t lose a step in the rhythm that Nick Friedell outlines in his article. Lowry and Butler identify as competitors, not just human beings. Lowry will definitely sign with a playoff contender when he is bought out by the Hornets. Butler will know that his friend will be out to beat him when and if they meet. It would’ve been nice to see them win a title for Miami, but the two also know “the business side” of playing NBA basketball.
