Kyrie’s Roller coaster Ride to 50/40/90

This season has been a dramatic one for PG Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets. He dealt with controversial comments with the media and times being absent from games and practices. Before the NBA bubble and the wake of the George Floyd incident, we have seen a change in the way Kyrie Irving has been regarding his feelings towards the game of basketball. He felt that the focus should be more on the community and world news. Irving even took a hiatus during the season after the events of the Capitol riots. Many have felt Irving’s absences and missed games have been a distraction for himself and his team throughout the season. But, there are levels to this.

Kyrie was elite

Kyrie showed this season, no matter what was said about him, that he is just a flat out baller. He is one of the most skilled point guards this game has ever seen. Despite the controversy regarding Irving, he went out and had the best statistical season of his career. He averaged 26.9 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game and 6 assists per game. In doing so he became one of nine players in NBA history to finish the season shooting 50% from the field 40% from three and 90% from the free throw line. Despite the criticism Kyrie got in media and sports shows regarding his thinking and philosophy he did not stop balling. Nothing could stop him from being one of the elite players we have in this game today.

The only way we can truly see Irving silence his critics is to bring home a championship for The Brooklyn Nets this season. We will see Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets start their road towards that as they face off against the Boston Celtics in the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs this Sunday at the Barclay Center at 8pm Eastern on ABC.
