Luka Doncic shines as Boston loses. Luka Doncic played amazing tonight and showed everyone why he was selected an All-Star starter tonight. He hit the game winning shot with 0.1 seconds remaining to put the game away. Boston has now lost two straight games and are 15-16 on the season. After being named All-Stars earlier, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown proved why today. They combined for 57 of Boston’s 107 points tonight. Kemba Walker struggled through the first 3 quarters, but played well in the 4th. Dallas was without Kristaps Porzingis and Maxi Kleber tonight, but they had 3 players score in double figures off the bench.
STAR OF THE GAME
Luka Doncic basically controlled the game tonight. If he wanted to drive in the paint, he drove to the paint. He kept on making great reads and hitting some tough shots. It is no wonder a lot of people believe he will be the face of the NBA once LeBron James retires. Tonight he had 31 points on 11-23 shooting (6-8 from 3) to go along with 10 rebounds and 8 assists. He was the best player on the court tonight. In the 4th quarter, he basically hit 2 daggers. One with 15.8 seconds left and the final one with 0.1 seconds left. Doncic is going to have a long and successful career in the NBA when it is all said and done.
BIGGEST CONCERN
After finishing 2 games shy of the NBA Finals last year, the Boston Celtics are 15-16 on the season and 6th place in the Eastern Conference. To be fair, Boston has yet to have a fully healthy roster all season. At the same time though, there is no denying Boston is not playing good basketball right now. Their 4th quarters are very hard to watch. The bench is really inconsistent and full of young players. Kemba Walker can be great one night and a complete liability another. Something needs to change with this team. I do not believe they should fire their head coach, but a trade has to be coming soon.
SURPRISE CONTRIBUTION
Jalen Brunson kept on hitting clutch shot after clutch shot in the 4th quarter. He finished the game with 22 points on 6-11 shooting. Those 22 points are more than the entire Boston bench scored combined. When you get a spark like this off your bench, you are bound to win a lot of games. Brunson is only in his 3rd season in the NBA and it seems like he is finally starting to find his groove.
