Star of the Game

Minnesota defeated a depleted Sacramento in a 20 point blow out. Prior to tip-off, Sacramento announced a trade featuring Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield, and Tristan Thompson, making them ineligible. In return, the Kings will receive Domantas Sabonis, Jeremy Lamb, and Justin Holiday. Unfortunately, the support did not have enough time to arrive before the start of the game. Because of this, Karl-Anthony Towns and the Wolves picked the Kings apart. Towns had 25 points shooting 10/14 from the field with 9 rebounds to add.

Biggest Concern

Anthony Edwards played way below his average on a night that he should have been feasting. It is not often that your opponent announces they are shipping out multiple key players hours before game time, but Edwards was not able to capitalize on this development. With only 5 points, shooting 2/12 and 0/3 from deep, Edwards looks more and more in need of rest. Though he has been selected to play in the Rising Stars challenge, it may be better for the team if he skips it to focus on his health.

Number of the Night

5. Malik Beasley continues his hot streak heading into the All-Star Break. Though his name has been tied to several trade rumors recently, the shooting guard seems to be finding his shot again. With a quiet night from Anthony Edwards, Beasley stepped up in a big way. With 21 points, shooting 7/8 from three, plus a steal, the Wolves may decide they want to finish the season with Beasley, hopefully on a high note.

Next Game

The Timberwolves will play the Kings again tonight at 9:00 CST.
