Star of the Game
As the season winds to a close, Minnesota loses a critical game to Washington by almost 20 points. All three of Minnesota’s Big Three played decently, but Karl-Anthony Towns lead the way with 26 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two blocks. D’Angelo Russell had 11 assists (along with 17 points), and Anthony Edwards had 18 points, six rebounds and four assists. Not a bad showing, but not good enough. Hopefully they are reserving their strength for the play-in tournament.
Biggest Concern
Though he was cleared by the medical staff after an ankle sprain, Jaden McDaniels did not play up to his potential in his return. In 15 minutes, McDaniels had no points (only one shot), two rebounds and an assist. It’s hard to criticize the young forward after he missed the last few weeks, but he needs to shake off the rust quickly. McDaniel’s is one of the Timberwolves defensive anchors, and if they hope to make it past the Play-in, they will need all the help they can get.
Number of the Night
4. Jaylen Nowell continues to shine off the bench. Against Washington, he scored 11 points in 11 minutes, with three rebounds, an assist, and a steal. The shooting guard has really broken out this season, proving to be one of Minnesota’s most adept scorers. He still remains a liability on defense, but with a little studying this off season, and he may see his stock rise come next year.
Next Game
