This week the focus is on an NBA Conference Finals Recap.
NBA Conference Finals Recap: Eastern Conference
- This playoff series is more important to Boston’s two stars, (Tatum and Brown) than it is to Dallas two stars (Doncic and Irving). Let me explain, for the Boston stars playing in Boston they will be measured on titles while Dallas has only one title in their existence so them getting to the finals is something their fans will remember. For Tatum and Brown if they don’t win a title before they retire they would be considered failures in Boston and this is a great opportunity to do so.
- Indiana has a good future. They played well enough to win in the Conference Finals in three of the four games and could have won those games. They have improved defensively since Buddy Hield was traded. They run an offense that moves the ball and moves bodies quickly and is difficult to defend. They need to re-sign Pascal Siakam and keep Tyrese Haliburton healthy. But most importantly they struggled down the stretch against Boston and the one way to fix that is experience which they just got.
- A quick memo to Boston fans after watching Luka play. Don’t do anything that upsets Luka. It seems he’s unstoppable when he’s riled up.
- When everything is clicking the Boston Celtics play beautiful basketball and look unbeatable. Unfortunately they also go through a few ugly stretches where they look like they just met each other but not nearly as often. Obviously if they minimize the ugly stretches they will win the championship.
NBA Conference Finals Recap: Western Conference
- When I look in the dictionary under enigma I see Karl Anthony Towns’ picture. He might be one of the most annoying players ever. After watching the conference finals I thought every time I became annoyed with his play he does something great like at the end of game four, hitting those threes. Hence the enigma.
- What a great job Nico Harrison did in putting the Dallas Mavericks together. Acquiring P J Washington and Daniel Gafford at the trade deadline were good moves. Drafting Dereck Lively also helped but the key move was taking a risk on Kyrie Irving. A year ago it seemed like there wasn’t many takers. I know Brad Stevens won executive of the year but Harrison has a good complaint.
- Anthony Edwards is talented. He has played fairly well in the conference finals but mentioning him in the same sentence as Michael Jordan at this stage of his career is totally unfair to him.
