Western Confernce
- I don’t know if Darvin Ham is a good coach or not but the evidence shows he is. Last year the Lakers went to the Conference Finals and this year the Lakers won the In season tournament so he looks pretty good. One thing I know is that the chain of command with the Lakers is fuzzy. The players can now comment on the coach, usually as unnamed sources, but the coach can’t say anything negative about his players for fear of losing the team. All I keep thinking is how would Red Auerbach or Hubie
Brown have handled this. - Any team needing a good offensive guard should look no further than Portland with Malcolm Brogdon. Brogdon can put a team over the top. Keep in mind he was Sixth Man Of The Year last year.
- I’ve noticed that the Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves are up and coming teams. Presently they are the two top seeds in the Western Conference. The question I have is, has anybody noticed the defending champions, the Denver Nuggets? Despite struggling early in the season as of Wednesday they stand one game behind the top seeded Timberwolves.
- Ja Morant’s injury, and with him out for the season, just about finishes the Memphis Grizzlies playoff hopes. Morant’s injury is just one more injury the Grizzlies are trying to endure though this is the biggest one they’ve had. Don’t forget Steven Adams is already out for the season, as is Brandon Clarke.
Eastern Conference
- After the Bucks lost to the Houston Rockets Saturday night, Giannis challenged everybody, including himself, in the Buck organization to do better. Though Damian Lillard didn’t play against the Jazz the Bucks responded with a horrible effort. Usually when your leader speaks you respond positively. The Bucks will have better days, I’m sure but unless they find someone that can keep their man out of the
paint they will have a tough time contending for a title. - The Charlotte Hornets need to make some personnel decisions before the trade deadline. Standing 6.5 games out of a play-in berth, the decision seems easy. They should trade anybody they can that isn’t named LaMelo Ball, Mark Williams or Brandon Miller. The Hornets have players teams are interested in. Terry Rozier, Gordon Hayward, Miles Bridges and P.J. Washington are players teams wouldn’t mind having.
NBA Referees
- The controversy with the officials in the Celtics v Pacers and Lakers v Raptor games doesn’t help the NBA’s image. In a time where gambling commercials are shown in the broadcast of every game these controversies don’t help. What’s worse is the last two minute report the NBA put out in the Celtic v Pacer game justified the call on Jaylen Brown but defied what you were seeing.
