Even though the Knicks haven’t been the best, Jalen Brunson has played very well so far. Can he possibly make his 1st All-Star appearance this season?
Thus far, Jalen Brunson has proven to be the Knicks best free agent signing in years. It’s been a long time since this franchise has had a quality point guard to run the show and even though this season has gotten off to a shaky start, Brunson has emerged as an offensive force for this team.
In the first 20 games of his Knick career, Brunson has averaged 21.8 PPG,3.6 RPG, and 6.7 APG while shooting 48.9% from the field. He has also tallied 1 SPG and shoots just under 90% from the charity strike. No Knicks point guard in the past decade has averaged more points or assists in a 20 game stretch than Jalen Brunson. The last point guard that came close to those numbers was Jeremy Lin, who averaged a little over 19 points and 8.3 assists over that stretch. Now, Brunson might not have the Linsanity hype around him but he is playing at a level that should gardener some consideration for an All Star selection.
Brunson has been nothing short of efficient when he’s out on the floor and been on fire recently. He has scored 30 points or more in his last 3 games and tallied 9 assist in two of those games. Even though his efforts has only led to an overall record of 9-11 for the Knicks, it’s still amazing to see him perform at this level especially for a franchise that hasn’t seen this level of play at this position in a long time. The 26 year old guard is playing the best basketball of his young career right now and if he keeps this up, there should be no reason why he shouldn’t represent the Knicks as an NBA All Star this season.
