The New Orleans Pelicans are the darlings of the NBA this season. You can tell based solely on the fact that they are second in the Association behind on the defending World Champion Los Angeles Lakers in National TV games. League office executive expected this team with young stars like Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson to improve this season. That expectation grew when the team hired Stan Van Gundy to lead them. Unfortunately for the NBA and fans of the Pelicans, the team is off to a rocky start.
The Pelicans will face a rested Clippers team that hasn’t played since beating the Chicago Bulls on Sunday, January 10th. Making matters worse for the Pels they will face the rested LA squad without Zion Williamson. Williamson is out due to health and safety protocols after an inconclusive COVD-19 test.
