Red hot Mavericks torch Clippers in Game 2
The Dallas Mavericks take a commanding 2-0 lead against the Los Angeles Clippers, with a 127-121 victory at the Staples Center last night.
Dallas shot 53% from three, and 58.5% overall from the field in the win. You’re not going to lose many games when your team is shooting like that. Even if Kawhi Leonard goes off for 30 points in the first half, and 41 points altogether.
Luka Doncic scored 39 points, along with 7 rebounds and 7 assists, leading the charge once again on the road against the rival Clippers.
Tim Hardaway Jr added another 28 to the box score, increasing his offseason price tag with every shot that goes in. He is scorching hot right now, and I have a girlfriend!
Besides the two stars on the Clippers (Paul George scored 28), LAC received no help from anybody else. Reggie Jackson was the only other player to score in double digits (15). They’re asking way too much from their stars, which will not pan out in the long run.
The Clippers are in trouble, as we head back to Dallas for the next 2 games.
Star of the Game
While Luka played amazing yet again, star of the game honors are going to Tim today.
- 28 points
- 9/14 FG
- 6/8 3-PT
- 5 assists
The son of the great Tim Hardaway Sr, Junior, is making a name for himself. Every ball he shot last night looked like it was going in, and his teammates have the utmost confidence in him right now.
This is a coming out party for Hardaway, as he can set up a trust fund for his children this off-season.
Surprise Contribution
I believe this is the first time Maxi Kleber has been awarded with Surprise Contribution this season.
- 13 points
- 5/6 FG
- 2/2 3-PT
- 4 rebounds
- 3 assists
Aside from the efficient shooting, Maxi is a sneaky good defender. He spent some time guarding Ivica Zubac and Marcus Morris Sr, who combined for 11 points. It’s good to see Kleber doing his part for the team, seeing that Nicolo Melli has been pretty useless as of late.
Biggest Concern
While this was most likely the Mavericks best game of the season, it’s nearly impossible to shoot the way they’ve been the past 2 games. The key for the rest of the series, is to play well together and stop the Clippers’ stars from controlling the game.
Let’s put this series to bed at home!
