Robert Williams shines in Boston’s 122-114 win. After trading Daniel Theis at the Trade Deadline yesterday, Robert Williams got the start and he did not disappoint. He had 7 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, and 5 blocks. Boston’s “Big 4” played one of their best games together. Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart, and Kemba Walker each had 20+ points and Jaylen Brown had 18 points. Off the bench, Grant Williams and Payton Pritchard each played well. For Milwaukee, they played well for the first 3 quarters, but basically waved the white flag in the 4th. Khris Middleton played great, like he always does against the Celtics. Jrue Holiday was solid as well with 17 points on 7-12 shooting. This was one of the best games Boston has played all year. Let’s just hope that they continue this momentum into tomorrow’s game against the Thunder.
STAR OF THE GAME
Jayson Tatum looked uninterested in the game against the Bucks on Wednesday. He had 18 points on 7-19 shooting and was 1-6 from 3 in Wednesday’s contest. Tonight, he was by far the best player on the court. He had a game-high 34 points on a very efficient 13-18 shooting and 4-7 from 3. He also had 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Jayson just had that all-star swagger to him all night long. No matter who they put on him, he got to his spot and made it with ease. That is quite a turnaround for Jayson and hopefully this can be a start of a hot streak for him and the entire Celtics team.
BIGGEST CONCERN
As their record indicates, Boston has been pretty inconsistent this year. They have gone on big win streaks and then followed that with big losing streaks. Tonight was a very impressive win against a team that won 8 straight and is in the upper tier in the Eastern Conference. Tomorrow they face the Thunder in Oklahoma City to end their road trip. Kemba Walker will be out as well as Tristan Thompson, and Romeo Langford. Newly acquired Evan Fournier may make his debut tomorrow, but even if he does, the Celtics will probably not play him a lot of minutes. It will not be an easy win, but a win Boston should secure. If Boston wins tomorrow, they will head home with 2 straight wins as they prepare for a 7 game home stand.
SURPRISE CONTRIBUTION
Giannis Antetokounmpo has quietly entered the MVP conversation as of late and deservedly so. The Bucks are playing great, he is putting up video game number again, and he is an excellent defender. In the 2 games against Boston however, Giannis struggled. On Wednesday, Giannis had only 13 points on a poor 4-11 shooting. Tonight, he had 16 points on 6-12 shooting. Considering Giannis is averaging around 29 PPG on the season, the last two efforts are definitely poor for his standards. To be fair, Boston played some great defense on him during this mini 2 game series.
