Since his return to the lineup, Kemba has given this team the offensive boost that they need. Should the Knicks reconsider trading him away?

Kemba’s Uproar

It was only a couple of weeks ago when it looked like Kemba Walker’s tenure with the Knicks was coming to an end. He was benched for 9 straight games and there was speculation that he will be moved before the trade deadline in February. Now, there is a possibility that it can still happen. But, with the way he has carried the offensive load for this team over the past 4 games, the Knicks should probably rethink that decision. In the last four games Kemba has played since returning to the lineup he has averaged 26ppg, 8.2 rpg, and 7apg. That includes a 44 point performance against the Washington Wizards. Also, there was a triple double performance against the Atlanta Hawks on Christmas Day.

With that performance, Kemba made history by recording only the 10th triple double on a Christmas Day game. This is the Kemba Walker that the Knicks hoped for when they signed him in the offseason. They desperately need this kind of production from him on a consistent basis in order to get back into the playoff picture.

Even though having him out on the floor does give them some issues on the defensive side of the ball, he’s giving an offensive spark that can’t be taken for granted and if it’s keeping the team in games, the Knicks should continue to play through Kemba. He’s a proven scorer in this league that can be streaky once he gets into a rhythm. We’ll see how long he will sustain this level of play. But as of right now, the Knicks should hold off on trading him away. His streaky play can be exactly what this squad needs to change this season around.
