The Bulls start the new year with a tough loss at United Center vs the 76ers

Center Joel Embiid had an impressive 31 points, and an astonishing 15 rebounds to go with his 10 assists as the Philadelphia 76ers (23-10) started the new year with a great win at home against the Chicago Bulls (15-20) 110-97. The Bulls entered this game with an inconsistent run of form but won their last game before the end of the year against the 76ers at home 105-92. Center DeMar DeRozan once again being the man of the match in that game with 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. However, although the 76ers came into this match with a loss last time they were the victors in this game.

The 76ers Win! The First Half was once again a disappointment for Bulls fans

The first half consisting of the first two quarters of the game seems to be a constant disappointment and worry for Bulls players and fans alike. The first quarter ended with the Bulls being bullied and wiped off the floor with the 76ers in a clear lead of 43-18. Shooting Guard Kelly Oubre Jr. started the mayhem for the Bulls as the 76ers player laid them out in the first quarter with 13 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists while DeRozan did what he could for the Bulls putting up 10 points and 1 rebound.

The second quarter wasn’t much better as the Bulls did fight for it but the lead was once again in the hands of the 76ers 30-24 and the half ending 73-42, a deep hole for the Bulls that they unfortunately couldn’t get out of. The second quarter was all about Embiid who put on quite a performance with 15 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist.

The second half was one where similar to the second quarter the Bulls showed improvement and fought for the win, but the 76ers won by just a little bit of points which could’ve been avoided if the Bulls hadn’t created a hole for themselves in the first half. The third quarter ended with the 76ers now just five points ahead 30-25 and the game score of 98-72, still a long way but the Bulls where knocking on the door of Philadelphia.

Center Andre Drummond  was the biggest offensive point for the Bulls in the quarter as he racked up 7 points and a great sum of 15 rebounds. While, what was most evident of the third quarter was that the 76ers where thriving because more than one player put good performances. Embiid continued his great performance with 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists; Point guard Tyrese Maxey had 8 points and Power Forward Tobias Harris had 8 points and 3 rebounds. The fourth quarter ended with finally a Bulls lead of 25-12, but the final score wasn’t for the Bulls as the game ended in a 76ers win 110-97.

What’s Next?

The Bulls will look to come back from this loss as they look to get back to winning ways as they once again will play at home at United Center as they host the New York Knicks (18-15) today Wednesday, January 3rd at 8:30 pm central.

The 76ers will look to brew a good run of games from this win as they will also play the Knicks but away from home at Madison Square Garden on Friday, December 5th at 7:30 pm central.
