The Cleveland Cavaliers managed a three-point win in a 105-102 contest against the Toronto Raptors. The Cavs broke a two-game skid, notching their ninth win of the season to advance to 9-8.
Key Performers for the Cavaliers
Cleveland was led by Darius Garland, who posted a team-high 24 points. Garland is recovering from a neck strain he suffered in Saturday’s game versus the Lakers but looked very impressive in this game. Max Strus also had a nice game, scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds for a double-double. Jarrett Allen anchored the post on both sides of the floor, shooting 90% from the field on his way to scoring 18 points and swatting away two shots.
The Cavaliers overmatched the Raptors in the second half, scoring 63 points in the final 30 minutes. Toronto saw impressive performances from their big-man trio of Jakob Poeltl, Pascal Siakam and Scottie Barnes. Poeltl and Siakam each scored 18 points, while Barnes added 15 in a solid effort from the three.
This is a feel-good win for the Cavs as they dropped two straight versus the Heat and Lakers. Cleveland is still a team figuring things out as they fight their way through injury troubles.
Raptors Late Game Push
Cleveland’s electric second half was ignited by a 20-point quarter from Max Strus. The Cavaliers fended off a Raptors comeback, fueled by seven clutch points by Dennis Schroder who finished the game with 15.
Cavs Looking Ahead
The Cavaliers saw a 10-point outing from Donovan Mitchell, who is still working to get his feet under him following an injury. Mitchell missed four straight games and played in just his second game back.
Cleveland should be happy with this tough win, as the team builds momentum heading into an In-Season Tournament game against the Hawks on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will play their final two games at home this week, before heading out on a four-game road trip.
