The Hornets embarrass the Celtics 125-104 on a Sunday morning. It was a very ugly loss for the Boston Celtics. They had a bunch of lazy turnovers early in the game and their defense was subpar. At the same time, the Hornets played fantastic. They shot 48% from 3 and made 21 3’s. Boston shot 34% and made 14 3’s. The most amazing stat though was Charlotte had 39 assists on 47 made field goals. That is incredible. 4 of the Hornets 5 starters scored 20+ points. P.J. Washington had 22 points and Miles Bridges had 20 points and both made 4 3’s. Charlotte’s backcourt combined for 45 points and 20 assists. Boston had 4 players score 17+ points, but none of them shot 50% or better from the field. Just a really ugly loss for the Celtics.

STAR OF THE GAME

There are a lot of options for star of the game, all for the Hornets, but Terry Rozier‘s performance stands out the most. Terry Rozier has had a fantastic season for the Hornets this year and he is averaging a career high 20.6 PPG. Today, he had 21 points on 8-18 shooting to go along with 5 rebounds and 11 assists. 6 of those assists came in the 1st quarter. When Rozier signed his contract back in 2019, many believed that it was an overpay. So far, he has proven that he is worth every single penny. P.J. Washington, Miles Bridges, and Devonte’ Graham each played amazing, but Rozier’s all around performance gave him the slight edge over the rest of his teammates.

BIGGEST CONCERN

The Hornets were without 2 of their best players in Gordon Hayward and LaMelo Ball, yet they dominated and embarrassed the Celtics. Games like this are games Boston need to win, especially with the playoffs right around the corner. Evan Fournier is still trying to get in a groove after missing a couple weeks, but every other Celtic needs to start finding a rhythm. Boston is currently tied with the Heat for the 6th seed. They are only 1.5 games of the Hornets for the 8th seed. Boston plays Miami and Charlotte 3 times over the final few weeks of the season. Those are games Boston needs to win.

SURPRISE CONTRIBUTION

Celtics fans are well aware of what Brad Wanamaker brings. He is a good defender, but his offensive game has been a little inconsistent during his career. Entering today’s game, Wanamaker was averaging 5.3 PPG on a career worst 37% from the field. Today, he got a little revenge against his old team. He had 12 points on 50% shooting and played some pretty great defense for the Hornets. Wanamaker has had an increased role after LaMelo went down with an injury. If he keeps on playing like he did tonight, it will be hard to bench him once LaMelo comes back.
