Despite pulling out two win, the Philadelphia 76ers had a disappointing week on the offensive side of the ball. The team posted two consecutive sub-80 point games against the New York Knicks early in the week. The Sixers failed to go over 110 points in the following two games as well. In three games this week, Philadelphia will need to step it up, especially on offense. The 76ers are now 37-30 on the year, the Eastern Conference’s current eight seed. The four through eight seed race will be one to watch in the final month of the regular season to see which team can evade the play-in tournament.
Philadelphia’s Offensive Woes Last Week
On Sunday and Tuesday of last week, Philadelphia traveled to New York for two straight games against the Knicks. Despite putting up just 79 points in a rock fight, the Sixers pulled out a narrow win holding the Knicks to just 73 points. However, the 76ers scored 79 points again the next game, but Josh Hart and the rest of New York would not fall again, as the Knicks won 106-79. Once again, Kelly Oubre Jr. was the only consistent option for Philadelphia, which is not ideal to say the least.
The team then went to Milwaukee to face the Bucks and lost 114-105. Tyrese Maxey had 30 points in the team’s first triple-digit score of the week, but it still was not enough. On Saturday night, the Sixers hosted their one home game of the week against the Charlotte Hornets. Maxey dropped 30 once again, and the 76ers won 109-98 in a great defensive outing.
Sixers Eye the Heat in Playoff Push
The Sixers tip off this week at home against the Miami Heat. The Heat are currently the East’s seven seed, with the same record as Philadelphia. This game will be crucial down the stretch for playoff seeding implications. After playing Miami, the Sixers will fly to the west coast to play the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night and the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night. Even though these games are not as important on paper as the Heat game, every win will help this struggling Philadelphia squad without Joel Embiid.
