This time around, OT ended in defeat for the Chicago Bulls vs Orlando Magic

Shooting Forward DeMar DeRozan and Center Nikola Vucevic were the main men for the Bulls in Over-Time over the Magic. They racked up 28 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 26 points, 17 rebounds, 4 assists respectively. It wasn’t enough as the Chicago Bulls lose in OT. This was a heartbreaking loss for the Bulls (25-28) after three OT wins, lucky finally ran out for them as Orlando Magic (29-24) were victorious 114-108 at from home at Amway Center. The Chicago Bulls came into this game after with a third consecutive OT win against the Memphis Grizzlies 118-110 away from home with that win being their fourth consecutively. Magic came into this match-up in with a lot of confidence after an offensively dominant win against the San Antonio Spurs at home 127-111.

The last time these teams faced each other was last season on November 17th at home, where the Bulls fell to Magic 103-97 in a close, heated contest. The main performer of that match-up was Shooting Guard Zach Lavine with 34 and 3 assists. The Chicago Bulls hoped for a different result this time around, but once again Magic took the game.

First half was tight, Bulls were down by two at Halftime

The first half was a hard-fought one for the Bulls with many ups and downs. They ended the first quarter down by two points 26-24 with Vucevic leading the pack with 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. While for Magic Shooting Guard Jalen Suggs was the main man on the court during that quarter with 7 points and 1 assist. The second quarter then seemed to be a even tighter affair as the quarter ended 26-26, but with Magic once again being in the end two points in the lead with the half ending 52-50. For the Bulls, Shooting Guard Ayo Dosunmu seemed to be the focal point as he put in 11 points, but for Magic it was Power Forward Franz Wagner who also put in 11 points but also 1 rebound and 2 assists

Bulls with an impressive comeback, but a fourth quarter and OT was enough for Wagner

The third quarter proved to be an impressive turnaround and comeback for the Bulls as they came back to lead 86-80 to end the quarter with DeRozan leading the way providing 10 points and 3 rebounds in the quarter. However, in the fourth quarter, everything fell apart, while the Bulls were leading with a whopping 101 Magic leveled it before the end of the quarter to take the game to OT. You would’ve thgought OT would be a place of comfort and confidence for the Bulls, coming off three OT wins but the fourth seemed to be the unavoidable defeat as the Bulls fell 114-108. Wagner was the man of the hour providing an impeccable performance in the fourth quarter and OT as he put in a phenomenal 18 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Star of the Game

The “Star of the Game” was the Magic Power Forward Franz Wagner. The product from the Univeristy of Michigan, the Wolverine’s program playing college ball under the guidance of head coach Juwan Howard; finished the game off with an impressive 36 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists. Wagner’s performance was undoubtedly dominant and ended up being crucial to his teams success on the court and for the city of Orlando.

What’s Next?

The Bulls will want to bounce back and shake off this loss on this great win at home as they play the Atlanta Hawks away from home at State Farm Arena on Monday, February 12th, at 7:30 p.m. EST.

Magic will look to continue their good run of two consecutive wins and make it three as they play back, as they play in front of their fans at Amway Center against Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, February 13th, at 7:30 p.m. EST.
