Top 5 Sports related movie lines for NBA playoffs

Looper

The Top 5 Sports related movie lines for NBA playoffs are necessary now because of the “Code Red” debacle. I wrote in my article here how terrible Scalabrine’s take was and he’s probably getting roasted for the mistake. Check this article here on awfulannouncing.com on the aftermath. This message board on the site wrestlingclassics.com here has a list on the “100 best sports related movie lines.” I submit my five sports related movie lines (references.)

Top 5 NBA playoff list #5– “Into the Storm,” (2008)

This reference would apply when your team is down in a playoff series. You’re a committed fan and are ready to win or lose with your team. I’ve always loved the scene in this movie where Winston Churchill (Brendan Gleeson), newly minted Prime Minister of Great Britain, tells his unsure cabinet that they will challenge Germany. “If our long island history is to end, then let it end. Only when every last one of us, every man of you, lies in the ground, choking on his own blood!” I’ve always applied it when the Heat were in danger of losing a series.

Top 5 NBA playoffs list #4 — “Major League,” (1988)

The scene when the entire Cleveland Indians team finds out the owner’s evil plan to move the team to Miami. Tom Berenger’s character, Jake Taylor, gives the line, “Well I guess there’s only one thing left to do…win the whole, fuc*ing, thing.” I kept saying that line last year when the Heat when on their playoff run.

Top 5 NBA playoffs list #3 — “Rocky IV,” (1985)

Rocky finally hurts Drago in the fight and Duke (Tony Burton), Apollo’s trainer, yells at him saying that “he’s a man, not a machine!” I would reference this movie when it came to stopping Nikola Jokic in the NBA Finals last year (specifically in Game 2.)

Top 5 NBA playoffs list #2 — “Hoosiers,” (1986)

This movie you’d reference if you were coaching youth basketball. Hell, its the reason why fans love basketball. The Heat would prove this all the time when they would win on the road in difficult environments. In some arenas, the Heat fans could be heard out cheering the home team fans.

Top 5 NBA Playoffs list #1 — “OG Karate Kid,” (1984)

“Sweep the Leg” is a line delivered by a villain to beat the hero, but it was a symbolic scene. Any athlete faces that moral crossroads during a game, either “It’s not cheating if you don’t get caught” vs. “Be a good sport.” Johnny Lawrence’s (William Zabka) eyes tell everything. He knew that his teacher was crossing the line.

Think of when Lebron dunked on Jason Terry during the Eastern Conference finals and looked down on him. Also, Jimmy Butler when he looked at Grant Williams in last year’s ECF. Udonis Haslem in any playoff series.
