The Little Rock Lightning and Waco Royals were knotted at 105 with just over three minutes remaining when Waco’s Britt Hammond got the ball in the right corner, crossed over to his left, drove hard to the basket and rolled in a tough runner Chandler Levingston-Simon, drawing a foul in the process. Hammond would complete the and-1 to put the visiting team up 108-105. But Levingston-Simon wasted little time responding with a 20’ jumper from the right wing to pull Little Rock within a point. On their next offensive possession, Deonta Terrell put the Lightning up by a bucket, scoring two of his 29 on a blazing drive to the hole. Mere seconds later, however, Hammond was adding to his tally with a layup of his own to give Waco the lead right back.

And this is how the final minutes of the game would continue until Little Rock’s Daniel Watson stepped to the free throw line for three shots with his Lightning trailing 109-112 with 15 seconds left in regulation. Watson would calmy make all three shots, not even drawing so much as a graze of the iron in the process, and send the game into OT. The pace was fast and furious, as it always is in a TBL overtime period, with the teams trading buckets until the final minute After a quick series of miscues and fouls, the Lightning found themselves behind 126-121, and so turned to the Jim Valvano method and put the Royals on the line time and again. Marvin White would be the beneficiary of most of those fouls, repeatedly stepping up and knocking down pairs en route to a game-high 39 points.
Though Little Rock would close the gap to just a point in the waning moments when Terrell poured in a layup, but once again White would return to the free throw line and seal the deal for the visiting Royals from Waco, giving them the 131-128 victory.
