Now things are getting interesting. Week 13 was the first full week back for the NBA after the All-Star break. This week, Week 14, is trade week with the deadline being this Thursday, March 25th. Suffice to say, things are about to get very interesting. Going into what might be tumultuous week, the top two teams in the Western Conference continue to show no signs of slowing down. There has been no movement in the top 2 spots since Week 8. After that, the Western Conference is the Wild, Wild West.

While movement up and down this week was limited to a slot in either direction for most teams, there was a lot of movement. Adding to the mix this week saw devastating injuries to LaMelo Ball, LeBron James and Joel Embiid. I expect to see different teams in Week 14 after the trade deadline. That means Week 13 might be a key week to use as a milestone to gauge the success or failure of a trade. What better way to see how a trade worked out than to see the impact on the Strength of Schedule Power Rankings!

Week 12 – Biggest Movers

A few teams moved up a spot, but only he Dallas Mavericks were able to jump higher. The Luke Doncic lead Mavericks, after a slow start to the season, are now 22-19. This week they only went 2-2 but those two wins were against Quality Teams in the Los Angeles Clippers and Portland Trailblazers. The Blazers they beat by 40 points! Our rankings do not take the final score into account, only the outcome. Regardless, that is a pretty impressive outcome!

Week 12 – Biggest Droppers

Several teams dropped a spot this week, but only one team dropped multiple spots. That inglorious honor goes to the Oklahoma City Thunder. They had a 1-2 week and needed a game saving block by Lu Dort to beat the lowly Houston Rockets. Speaking of the Rockets, this week they took the bottom spot away from the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Wolves had been holding up the Western Conference at #15 since Week 6. Now, that duty belongs to the Rockets.
