Caitlin Clark makes her WNBA debut
We have been all waiting for this day since Iowa’s last game in the 2024 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Indiana Fever kick off their 2024 Season in Connecticut today at 7:30pm. Which means, Caitlin Clark will play her first regular season game for the Fever and the WNBA.
Clark’s arrival as the No. 1 overall Draft pick has brought tremendous attention to the Fever, who also bring back the 2023 No. 1 pick and Rookie of the Year in Aliyah Boston and a host of veterans.
Today, Tuesday May 14th is opening day for the WNBA. And because of that ESPN are going all out with their coverage of the Indiana Fever against the Connecticut Sun. WNBA Countdown will start at 7:00pm EST on ESPN2, followed by the game at 7:30pm. The game will also be streaming on ESPN+ and Disney+ for all those cord-cutters. Also, the game will be on the WNBA League Pass, and the WNBA App after the game concludes.
The Fever are looking to start the season strong after an exciting couple of pre-season games. Look for Aliyah Boston and NaLyssa Smith to put up big numbers tonight to help guide the Fever to an opening victory.
A’ja Wilson is getting her Signature Shoe
Two-time WNBA champion and league MVP A’ja Wilson is finally getting her signature Nike shoe. The shoe is set to debut in 2025 and be called the “A’One”. This is news that has been a long time coming. Signatures shoes for WNBA players do not happen often, especially for Black WNBA Stars. The last black player to have her own signature shoe (Adidas) was Candace Parker back in 2010. The last Nike signature shoe deal for a WNBAer was Sheryl Swoopes in 2002. (!?!) Despite all that, it is good that Wilson is getting her flowers and her own signature shoe.
