Our panel recaps Episode 4 of Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. Jose Salviati and Evan Moore both who lived through the rise of the Lakers dynasty in the 1980’s. Akeem Evans and Derek Lavell did not, but they are both excited to learn more about this team. Based on Jeff Pearlman’s book, Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers, and executive produced by Adam McKay the show takes a look at a team that defined its era, both on and off the court. The series tells the Lakers story from the perspective of Dr. Jerry Buss. Jerry West, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Norm Nixon and more Lakers legends.
Winning Time Episode 4 – Who the F*** is Jack McKinney
In Episode 4 the Lakers all make their way to Palm Springs to open up training camp. The Lakers begrudgingly settle on Jack McKinney as their coach while Jennie Buss and the team at the Forum start to develop what will be known as Showtime! In this episode we are introduced to Michael Cooper, Ron Boone, Mark Landsberger and others.
