Our panel recaps Episode 7 of Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. Jose Salviati and Evan Moore both who lived through the rise of the Lakers dynasty in the 1980’s. Akeem Evans and Derek Lavell did not, but they are both excited to learn more about this team. Based on Jeff Pearlman’s book, Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers, and executive produced by Adam McKay the show takes a look at a team that defined its era, both on and off the court. The series tells the Lakers story from the perspective of Dr. Jerry Buss. Jerry West, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Norm Nixon and more Lakers legends.

Winning Time Episode 7 – Invisible Man

In Episode 7 Coach McKinney begins to make progress in his recovery as Coach Westhead struggles to control the team. Pat Riley makes his move from behind the mic to holding the clipboard as Assistant Coach. With the team losing, Lakers executives have a replacement coach ready if the team loses to Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics in the Boston Garden. In addition to Larry Bird we caught glimpses of NBA greats Rick Barry and Bill Russell!
