The Washington Wizards take on the Detroit Pistons at Capital One Arena on Tuesday March 1st at 7:00 pm. This will be the third match up of the season between the two teams. Washington leads the season series against Detroit 2-0. In their last matchup, Washington won by the score of 103-94.

Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards are currently holding onto the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 27-33 record. Washington is on a two game losing streak, with their most their recent loss coming against the Cleveland Cavaliers this past Saturday. Without Bradley Beal in the lineup, Kyle Kuzma has taken over as the team’s go to scorer. For the month of February, Kuzma is averaging 21 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. In his previous two games, Kuzma is averaging 35 points per game.

Washington announced that they will be signing Tomas Satoransky to a free agent deal. Satoransky was drafted by Washington in 2012, and made his NBA debut in 2016. He would go on to play three seasons with Washington before signing with the Chicago Bulls in 2019. Satoransky was recently with the San Antonio Spurs, before both he and San Antonio agreed to a contract buy out. This opened the door for Satoransky to sign with Washington.

Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons are currently holding onto the 14th seed in the Eastern Conference, with a 15-46 record. In their most recent game, Detroit defeated the Charlotte Hornets in a 127-126 overtime thriller, behind a Kelly Olynyk game winner. Olynkyk’s game winner ended a 15 game losing streak for Detroit. Jerami Grant is the leading scorer for Detroit, averaging 18.9 points per game.

Dimers Deliberation

Dimers predict that this game will go right down to the wire, with Washington winning. I agree with Dimers on this. Detroit has lost both of their games against Washington this year, and will look to avoid going 0-3. The Pistons also have momentum from their dramatic win against the Charlotte Hornets. These factors will keep the game close. But I think with the number of close games Washington has been in this year, that familiarity will help them. Plus they have Kyle Kuzma, who has been a very effective 4th quarter player this season.
