The Heat – Celtics Summer League game took on a lot of significance. Normally, its hyperbole when a fan or an analyst says the teams are “continuing the rivalry.” But, yesterday’s game was highly competitive and it was more like a playoff game, then a summer league game. The Heat players proved that Pat Riley is “playing the long game,” with the team. Look at my article here on our site about “that game.”

Celtics reloading with youth

Look at this article here from Celticsblog.com. Jaden Springer was acquired last season at the trade deadline. He scored 23 points and was very good on the offensive and defensive end. The Celtics also have other promising players such as Jordan Walsh, Baylor Schierman, Neeimas Queta and Jahim’us Ramsey.

Heat also reloading

Jaime Jaquez was reported to be joining the Summer League team in Vegas. He showed that he was polished and sharp from his time with “the big club.” He took the ball to the hoop with authority and used his physicality on defenders to score. Jaquez played point at UCLA but didn’t have to bring the ball up court with free agent Isaiah Stevens.

Look at this article here from Sunsentinel.com. Stevens is a “true point guard,” finishing with 11 assists (1 turnover) and helped the team have 28 assists on 14 turnovers. Kel’el Ware showed his “soft hands,” as he caught the ball deep in the paint and finished scoring. Look at this article here from Sunsentinel.com, talking more about Ware’s offensive game.

Heat – Celtics rivalry will continue

The game was back and forth. Both benches would explode when big plays were made. Look at the Play-by-Play here on NBA.com. Each team made multiple efforts to score, had active hands the whole game and were racking up assists. The Celtics were up by 4 after the first, the Heat only won the 2nd quarter (the Celtics won the 3rd and 4th quarters.) Then, the Celtics closed to 3 at 102-99 and 109-106 in the fourth, eventually dropping the game.
