Los Angeles Lakers Put the Grizzlies Back into Hibernation

The Los Angles Lakers (6-2) put the Memphis Grizzlies (2-5) down for the second game in a row. In what was a much tighter game than the one previous, the Lakers were able to come away with a hard fought victory in a low scoring game 94-92. It’s hard to beat a team two games consecutively on their home court, but the reigning Champions continue to prove their mettle, led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis with their 26 points apiece.

STAR OF THE GAME

This may get a bit repetitive (and a bit tiresome) to read, but once again this has to go to the King. LeBron James put up his usual near triple double numbers of 26 points 12 rebounds and 7 assists to go along with a block and a steal. This was a tough win to get on the road and the Lakeshow doesn’t come away with the W without his leadership and playmaking. He proved invaluable as he sunk a couple of late game free throws to help seal the win.

BIGGEST CONCERN

The overall play of the reserve players would have to be the biggest concern following this game. Everyone who came in off the bench was a negative in the +/- category. It was their poor play that allowed the Grizzlies to stay in it and keep the game close. They put up only a measly 22 points with no one getting into double figures. The closest was the reigning 6th man of the Year Montrezl Harrell with 9. The Grizzlies bench did not a whole lot better with 36 points, but that still outdid the Lakers by 14. They are going to need more consistent play from these guys regularly if they do not want to burn out their stars before the postseason.

SURPRISE CONTRIBUTION

Tough to pick a real surprise here in this game, but I am going to go with Dennis Schroder. Other than LeBron and Anthony Davis, he was the only other Laker in double figures with 12 points. He also put up 6 assists, a solid number for a starting point guard. He played some solid defense out there as well, as he kept opposing point guard Tyus Jones to only 8 points.
