The Los Angeles Lakers outlasted the Orlando Magic and their new additions on Sunday night. It was a close game that came down to a last-second shot attempt by Otto Porter Jr. Porter used a screen and a pump fake to get a clean look from deep, but he was unable to connect at the buzzer.

Recap

It was a team attack in the first game for the new-look Magic. Dwayne Bacon led the team with 26 points and 8 rebounds. While Chuma Okeke scored 14 points off of 50% shooting from behind the arc, it wasn’t enough to stop the injured Lakers from stealing a win. But on the positive side, Wendell Carter Jr., RJ Hampton, and Otto Porter Jr. made their Orlando Magic debuts on Sunday night.

With LeBron James and Anthony Davis still sidelined, the door was open for the rest of the Lake-Show. Combined, Dennis Schröder and Montrezl Harrell scored 42 points on 15-27 shooting from the field. Kyle Kuzma also performed well, scoring 21 points with 11 rebounds. The Lakers can still be lethal with injuries, especially after the addition of Andre Drummond.

Andre Drummond

On Sunday night, prior to the game, the Lakers signed Andre Drummond. In 25 games this season, the 2-time All-Star has averaged 17.5 PPG, 13.5 RPG, and 2.6 APG.
