For the second time this season, the Toronto Raptors won a game on the road 122-119 against the Atlanta Hawks.
The Raptors are now on a two-game winning streak thanks to this game and the blowout victory against the Orlando Magic in Toronto.
Atlanta was looking to snap their two-game losing streak and move back to the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.
Unfortunately, this loss extended their losing streak to three. And the Hawks are still in the seventh seed in the East.
Toronto started the opening quarter well by having a 10-point lead. The first ends with the Raptors leading 35-25.
During the second quarter, the Hawks managed to get the game to single digits but the Raptors maintained their lead. The first half ends with Toronto leading 65-59.
Atlanta could not get the lead in the third quarter while Toronto managed to keep their lead throughout this quarter. The quarter ends with a 94-89 Raptors lead.
The Hawks started strong in the fourth quarter. Trae Young made a three to make it a three-point game.
After the shot from Young, both teams went back and forth until Bogdan Bogdanovic made a three to tie the game.
With 7:15 minutes left in the game; the Hawks got the lead thanks to a dunk from Onyeka Okongwu. This is Atlanta’s first lead since the beginning of the first quarter.
After struggling to get the lead back for most of the fourth quarter, Toronto tied the game at 3:29 left thanks to an RJ Barrett layup.
Barrett once again made a big shot this time being a three to get the Raptors back the lead at 2:51 left in the game.
The game went down to the wire but Toronto eventually won when Okongwu missed the three to go to overtime.
Both teams have a win this season against each other since the Raptors won this game and the Hawks won the first game in Toronto on Dec. 29, 2024.
Scottie Barnes was key for tonight’s victory. He finished the night with 25 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Toronto’s road record is now 2-19. They will have the chance to make it 3-19 on Jan 25 against the Hawks in Atlanta once again.
