This season, much like last season, the best professional men’s basketball is played in Los Angeles. There is, of course, a long way to go, but it has to be encouraging for fans of both LA teams to watch their squads doing what they are doing. The Los Angeles Lakers are the defending World Champions so everyone brings their A-game when facing them. Doesn’t matter, they just beat you. The Los Angeles Clippers could have fallen apart after a disastrous end to their season last year. Instead, they are playing inspired basketball and currently hold the #1 spot in our Western Conference Power Rankings. The Utah Jazz, led Donovan Mitchell – the the guy Shaquille O’Neal awkwardly tried to motivate… I guess – round out the top 3.
Biggest movers
The Utah Jazz are on this list for the second week in a row! An 8 game win streak will do that for you! The Denver Nuggets started the season 1-4 and have gone 8-3 since including 3-1 this week. Two of those victories were in overtime, one in double-overtime, against the surprising Phoenix Suns. Our very own Joseph Jamoka wrote about why it’s mistake to sleep on the team from Colorado. I guess he was right!

Biggest Droppers
The Dallas Mavericks made a surge in week 4 getting as high as the number 5 spot. Sadly for them and their fans week 5 brought a 2-3 week which cost them four spots. On a positive note for Mavs fans it looks like Kristaps Porzingis may be back! He led the Mavericks in scoring twice this week. A healthy Porzingis partnering with MVP candidate Luka Doncic means the Mavericks may not be in this list much more moving forward.
