Above .500

The San Antonio Spurs have an 11-9 record with a quarter of the 2024-2025 gone. They are 5 and 1 in their last 6 games with a 4 game winning streak during this run. Recent games have included victories over title contenders such as the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Golden State Warriors as well as the Sacramento Kings. In the tough Western Conference it is only good enough for 10th spot though in the Eastern Conference it could get you 4th or 5th spot at the present.

Coach Mitch

The San Antonio Spurs have been without their Championship coach Gregg Popovitch for the past month and so this recent run of form does deserve special praise. Mitchell Johnson has done a stellar job filling in the shoes that probably cannot be completely filled. The San Antonio Spurs have also been playing well despite injuries to some of their best young players such as Devin Vassell. Devin has been back in the line up recently. Along with Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle the future ahead looks bright for the San Antonio Spurs.

Balance

The team seems to have the right balance between veteran players such Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes and their young core. There is still much of the season to play. Young teams at times can find it challenging to maintain consistency throughout a long 82-game season. The presence of Harrison Barnes and Chris Paul, both of whom have gone deep into the post season should help the San Antonio Spurs stay the course to build on their positive start to the season.

Coach Pop

The team no doubt will be wishing for a full recovery and return to the sidelines of their head coach. In his absence they have done him proud. He has a lot to look forward whenever he is back.
